Maoist to fight back \'retaliation\'

KATHMANDU, MAY 06 -  Unified CPN (Maoist) has decided to retaliate against the vigilantes who attempt to assault Maoist cadres. The meeting has decided that these kind of assaults are being launched with the plan and backing of the government. 



As the movement started to gain strong ground, the government has started to assault on Maoist cadres with so-called retaliation. Today in various parts of the country including Capital city youth organizations of the ruling parties attacked over the protesters. 



The ministers of present government had openly spoken that they will retaliate against the movement. Dozens of Maoist leaders are cadres have been injured in those types of attacks. In a planned attack in Birgunj on Thursday morning, Maoist central committee leader Pravu Shah along with 53 other cadres was seriously injured. 



The meeting of the standing committee held on Thursday at Maoist Chairman\'s residence decided that they will not tolerate attack on their cadres. Speaking with the mediapersons after the meeting, Party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said, \"The attacks are being carried out in Panchayat era style. We will not leave those who attack on us.\"



Meanwhile, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has said that his party won\'t retaliate against movement. Organizing a hasty press conference at party central office, khanal said his party will not retaliate against the general strike. He also appealed to the party cadres not to provoke violence. He said those involved in the so-called retaliation were the criminals.
