You have visited Nepal more than once. How are you observing the changed situation in Nepal?
I think it’s probably most the same. The difference I found is Maoist used to work harder two years ago. They were in war. Now, due to the change in tactical tine, they are not working hard, specially, in rural areas. There is loose contact with the people. Leaders and cadres are centralized in the cities.
It’s really sad, very sad. Most of the people in Nepal are living in the villages. I don’t understand they can do it because they are struggling for the people, for the formers and specially the poor people in the villages.
How can we improve the present situation of health and environment sector?
The first important thing is information. The people should get information about the various types of illnesses and the diseases. More doctors and health-workers should be sent to the remote rural areas. In our country Norway, the health workers and the doctors go to the villages when they finish their education. They work and serve the people in the remote village areas.
What would you like to suggest the party UCPN-Maoist and the government about health sector?
Two years ago, the cadres of UCPN-Maoist used to work very hard. They should go back to the villages and listen to the people. And, solve the problem that occurs before.
What do you think about women leadership?
They should have accepted the same job as men. They can lead anything if they get opportunity to play their role and responsibility. As we see in the villages, the women work and work and work. They seem more responsible than men. Therefore, they can lead if they are given responsibility.
What are your suggestions to improve the condition of the hospital at Ghorneti?
I am very much impressed by the devotion and dedication of the health workers and comrades working there at Ghorneti hospital. However, they need more professional people to work there. It is very much difficult to get people to the hospital. It is far from the dwelling places and there is no service of vehicles. The concerned parties should pay their attention very seriously because the of hospital is in up a mountain to reach.
